Long time no update…?

Well, I’ve been so busy with college… I haven’t updated in almost a month! Thankfully, I’ve pretty much finished my FMP now. I just need to sort my sizes out, and then I’m printing on Monday. The deadline is next Friday, so I have until then to finish my books… But that won’t take long. I’m so happy.
And then I have a week off college! Hopefully it’s still sunny then!

It’s been so long since I just went out to take photographs. I feel like everything I’ve been doing has just simply been because I need to for my work. I haven’t been ‘enjoying’ photography as much, and I really need to get back into that. I kind of want to start another 365, but I just know that I won’t be able to keep up with it. And especially when University starts in September… I won’t have much time then. I may start one in January, depending on how the university year is going.

It’s our exhibition on the 19th June, and then I finish shortly after that… Then I can just relax and take photographs of whatever, whenever…

Natural Forms. I hate them, and I love them XD I am definitely focusing on the four classic elements now for my FMP: Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
Now I just need to find natural forms that fit to each category. I know for Air I’m going to have a look at clouds and movement, and maybe smoke. For fire, I was thinking of trying to find red/yellow flowers and do close ups of those. Of course, my photos do still need to be abstract so I have to think about that too.

On an unrelated to college note, I started reading A Game of Thrones, and I’m 3/4s of the way through the first. It is pretty good! They’re so long though! I want to watch the TV series, but I have no idea where they’re up to and such. I don’t know whether to go straight onto the second when I finish this, or whether to start a shorter book and read that first. I guess I’ll decide when I see how this one ends

It’s been a while…

Went back to college on Monday, and now we’re officially on FMP mode… I’m still trying to think up ideas for my work. I just know that I’m focusing on natural forms and abstraction. Now, that gives me a lot to work with, which is why I’m struggling I think…

I had an idea of doing the classic elements (earth, fire, water and air), and using natural items and the lines/shapes to represent each element. For example, feathers for air. I’m going to talk to my tutor about it on Friday.

Anyway, two photos that I took in the holidays, during our walk through the ‘Waterfall Trail’ in Ingleborough.

Off to York we go…

Well, I went to Yorkshire at the weekend with my college. It was so pretty, but far too cold!

On the Friday, we went into Skipton and had a look around (as well as buying our food for the weekend from Morrisons!). I managed to find an interesting BBC book in a charity shop for £3.50 instead of £20! It has some great photographs of the earth that I can use as research for my FMP. (As for that, yes I am officially in FMP mode now!)

Saturday we went to York.

Sun, sun, sun!

Well, it has been gorgeous these past few days, and I have taken a few photographs outside. The sun just makes me happier and want to get out more…

I have been out running loads, and it’s great. Today I managed my first 5k out on the road/streets, and it was awesome. I was knackered and sore afterwards, but I felt great. My time was 32 minutes so I’m proud of that!

I’ve also handed in one project, and got my Distinction on it. I still have Digital Montage, Dark Ops and now I have FMP going on.
Almost done with the first two though, so I can mainly focus on my FMP now. It’s quite scary…

My Studio/Reflective Journal project is due in next Friday… I just need to choose my finals.
I’ve gone with ‘Planets’, and so I’ve just got a few of these to choose from. I was thinking these four:

The first two are the same photo, just the right one is flipped and BW… I figured they kind of fit together.
The second two are of similar style, in the fact that they’re vegetables… So I was thinking of doing two sets of two, rather than a set of four that fits together.

What do you think?

I love watching horses. I just find them so relaxing. I enjoy just standing by a field and watching them graze… More often than not, when I’m stood near them with my camera, they will come over really interested.
I had a nice little bike-ride this morning and visited the horse above, and it’s friend I have some digital photos but I haven’t managed to get round to putting them on my laptop yet.

Anyway, I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere with my Reflective Journal project. My theme is starting to come to be about landscapes, but like, with a space-y kind of feel. Hmmm.

My FMP is going to follow on with this project, and i’m still unsure as to what I’m doing. I like the idea of basing it around space, galaxies and the unknown though.
